RARE 1973 BMW 2002 BAUR TARGA CONVERTIBLE NOW SOLD

Code: BMW 2002

Product description

This is the most desirable and rarest of the 2002's being the Targa.

A genuine UK car and 1 of only 349 original RHD 2002's Targa Convertibles ever built and surely even fewer surviving examples..

As you can see from the photos this is a genuine and stunning car in very good interior and exterior condition.

The car starts and drives well for a vehicle that id 44 years old.

The car was UK registered under plate NRU 117M and at some stage in its life it was sold to an owner in Ireland and as such has the Irish number plates now.

We have the Irish log book that is required to re register the car here in the UK. We are led to believe that it may get the original UK number plate back when the new owner applies for a UK registration.

Being 1973 there is no road tax licence to pay.

We purchased the car with the intention of carrying out a check, replacement of parts & light restoration where necessary and then to MOT and register the UK plate again, time has not allowed us to carry out this so we feel it better to offer this rare 2002 to a new owner.

With the car is a vast amount of receipts for work carried out over the years, a vast amount of photos for the restoration work carried out, old tax discs, the original owners hand book.

This is really a complete package and with a little bit of work will make someone the owner of an ever appreciating BMW 2002 classic.

Further details that were furnished from the previous owner:

The body was expensively restored some years ago, at which point all corrosion was removed, new panels fitted and a full bare metal respray in Yellow undertaken. The braking system is 'as new' having had all components replaced with genuine ones by a BMW specialist, while new tyres have also recently been fitted. The vendor currently grades all major aspects of the Cabriolet as 'very good' and is offering it complete with large history file, photos of the restoration, handbook, workshop manual.

BMW's 'New Class' compact range manufactured between 1962 and 1975 saved the company from extinction; setting it on the road from bubble car maker to the highly profitable producer it is today. Powered by the firm's celebrated four-cylinder M10 engine, these drivers' cars featured fully independent suspension and disc brakes up front. The '02' Series of two-door Saloon variants was introduced in 1966, of which a Karosserie Baur Targa Cabriolet version was added two years later. Initially powered by the 1602 (1573cc) engine, the Baur cars were equipped with the 2002 (1990cc) one from 1971 onwards.

PLEASE NOTE COLLECTION IS PREFERRED BUT WE CAN ARRANGE DELIVERY IF REQUIRED SUBJECT TO THE CAR BEING PAID FOR PRIOR TO IT LEAVING US.
